A broken crankshaft can bring a heavy machine or engine to a halt. Normally the crankshaft has to be taken out and sent away to be repaired. This means lots of disassembly, lifting, moving and more downtime. In many cases, an onsite crankshaft grinding machine can greatly simplify the repair. The portable machine can be brought to the site and fitted over the damaged crankpin or main journal. The damaged surface can then be ground and polished without having to remove the crankshaft from the engine. Before beginning the work, the crankshaft is carefully measured for diameter, taper, ovality and damage. The journal is polished and rechecked after grinding to ensure the required size and finish.
