Dengue cases on the rise in Punjab

The public health experts warned that standing water from rainstorms in ponds, open spaces, building rooftops, and roads could cause the number of cases to increase even further in the days ahead. According to official data, Punjab has seen the confirmation of 57 positive dengue cases in the last 30 days. Other officials, however, claimed that the health authorities were not providing accurate dengue fever case counts. They were worried that the number of dengue cases could be thirty times higher than those officially reported. They said that family physicians running street clinics across Punjab were reporting a sizable number of patients exhibiting dengue fever symptoms.
