The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has taken action against 28 hospitals across the state for their involvement in a fraud related to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF). Among these hospitals, 10 are located in Hyderabad, with the rest spread across other districts. The scam, which involved hospital staff and local individuals collaborating to submit fraudulent medical bills, was uncovered after a complaint by a section officer from the Telangana Secretariat. This led to the filing of six FIRs.

The investigation revealed that the accused hospitals created fake medical bills to one of the funds intended for financially disadvantaged patients in need of medical treatment. The Telangana government, has vowed to take strict action against those involved. The implicated hospitals include various multi-specialty facilities, with specific names cited in Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Mahabubabad.
