Italy’s gelcoat market is benefiting from the country’s long-standing expertise in composite manufacturing. Gelcoat is more than a finishing layer; it helps protect fiberglass and reinforced composite products from sunlight, moisture, chemicals, and regular wear while giving them a smooth, attractive surface. Italy produced approximately 162,000 tonnes of composites, accounting for about 14.2% of European production, according to Assocompositi. Strong activity in yacht manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, construction, and renewable energy is creating a broad customer base for gelcoat suppliers and encouraging demand for higher-performance coating solutions.
